Regulations on the Carriage of Liquids, Aerosols and Gels (LAGs) in Cabin Baggage

Information on liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGS) 

  • Liquids in various forms, such as water, beverages, soup, syrup, jam, stew, sauce, chili paste, or other foods in sauce or with a high liquid content.
  • Creams, lotions, cosmetics, oils, and perfumes.
  • Gels in various forms, such as medicines, toothpaste, food, shampoo, and shower gel.
  • Substances contained in pressurized containers that are dispensed by spraying, such as aerosols and foam.
  • Substances containing a mixture of solids and liquids, such as mascara, lipstick, or lip balm.

1. Quantity Limits for Cabin Baggage

  • Liquids, Aerosols and Gels (LAGs) must be carried in securely closed containers with a maximum capacity of 100 millilitres (100 grams or 3.4 ounces) per container. Each container must clearly display its capacity. Passengers may carry more than one container of LAGs, provided that the total volume does not exceed 1,000 millilitres (1 litre) per passenger.
  • Empty containers with a capacity exceeding 100 millilitres, provided they contain no Liquids, Aerosols or Gels (LAGs), may be carried on board as cabin baggage.

2. Exemptions

Liquids, Aerosols and Gels (LAGs) that are exempt from the quantity restrictions may be carried in quantities appropriate for the duration of the journey on each flight. Passengers must present such LAGs to security screening officers at the security screening checkpoint for inspection. These include:

  • Medicinal LAGs accompanied by a medical certificate, a label, or medication documentation bearing the passenger's name indicating that the medication is required, or household medicines as specified in the notification of the Ministry of Public Health.
  • LAGs consisting of food or milk for infants.
  • LAGs consisting of food required for medical purposes or for special nutritional purposes.

3. Duty Free

  • Liquids, Aerosols and Gels (LAGs) purchased from a Duty Free Shop within the airport or on board an aircraft must be placed in a Security Tamper-Evident Bag (STEB). The bag must be properly sealed, show no signs of tampering or opening after purchase, and be accompanied by proof of purchase showing that the items were purchased on the date of travel.
  • Passengers making a transfer or transit must present such LAGs to security screening officers at the security screening checkpoint for inspection.

Recommendation: During the journey, passengers are advised to check with the Duty Free Shop where the items were purchased regarding the applicable LAG regulations at the destination airport and at any airport where they will transfer or transit.

Notice to Transit/Transfer Passengers: Duty-Free Liquids, Aerosols and Gels (LAGs)

If you have purchased duty-free LAGs exceeding 100ml, they must be kept in a sealed, tamper-evident plastic bag with no signs of being opened after purchase.

• You may carry these items onto your connecting flight only if you remain within the security restricted area.

• If you leave the restricted area to check in for a new flight, your duty-free exemption will no longer apply. Any duty-free Liquids, Aerosols and Gels (LAGs) exceeding 100 millilitres will NOT be permitted through the security screening checkpoint. ACTION REQUIREDPlease ensure all LAGs exceeding 100ml are packed in your CHECKED BAGGAGE.

4. Important reminders for the convenience of passengers before entering the security screening point.

  • Passengers should place each LAG container (not exceeding 100 millilitres) in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag with a maximum capacity of 1 litre (recommended bag size: 20 cm × 20 cm). The bag must be properly sealed, and each passenger is permitted one such bag.
  • Before proceeding to the Security Screening Point, passengers should separate the LAG containers or the transparent re-sealable plastic bag containing LAGs from their other cabin baggage for inspection by security screening officers.
  • The following LAGs, whether carried as cabin baggage or purchased from shops outside or inside the airport, are not permitted in the aircraft cabin:
    •  LAGs contained in containers with a capacity exceeding 100 millilitres.
    • LAGs contained in containers that do not display the container capacity.
    • LAGs in small quantities contained in containers with a capacity exceeding 100 millilitres.
    • Local or traditional foods containing liquids with a volume exceeding 100 millilitres. Passengers are advised to pack such LAGs in checked baggage (hold baggage).
